Governance structures

Not applicable. The Office of the Commissioner for Federal Judicial Affairs Canada (FJA) provides administrative services related to pay, pension and allowances for federally appointed judges in accordance with Part I of the Judges Act.

Human resources

Not applicable. FJA is a micro organization comprised of 66 full-time equivalents. These resources are fully allocated to provide services to federally appointed judges according to Part I of the Judges Act.

Planned initiatives

Not applicable. FJA supports the Judicial Advisory Committees in creating a pool of candidates for judicial appointment that is gender-balanced and reflective of the diversity of each jurisdiction, including Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and members of linguistic, ethnic and other minority communities, including those whose members’ gender identity or sexual orientation differs from that of the majority. In doing so, Committees should give due consideration to all legal experience, including that outside of mainstream legal practice.
